    Overview

Your security is our top priority. Follow these best practices to protect your account and prevent unauthorized access.

    1. Use Strong & Unique Passwords

    • Use a password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
    • Avoid using common words or phrases.
    • Never reuse passwords across multiple accounts.

    2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

    • 2FA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of authentication.
    • Set up 2FA in your account settings to receive a security code via an app or SMS when logging in.

    3. Monitor Account Activity

    • Regularly check your login history for any unusual activity.
    • If you see an unrecognized login attempt, reset your password immediately.

    4. Be Aware of Phishing Scams

    • Never share your login credentials via email or chat.
    • Be cautious of emails asking you to reset your password unless you requested it.
    • Verify links before clicking—hover over them to ensure they lead to a trusted source.

    5. Review Third-Party App Access

    • Regularly check which third-party applications have access to your account.
    • Revoke access to any apps you no longer use.

    6. Log Out from Unused Devices

    • If you access your account from multiple devices, log out when finished.
    • Use the "Sign Out from All Devices" option if you suspect unauthorized access.

    7. Keep Your Software & Devices Updated

    • Ensure your operating system, browser, and security software are up to date.
    • Enable automatic updates to receive the latest security patches.

    8. Report Suspicious Activity Immediately

    • If you suspect unauthorized access, reset your password and contact support immediately.
    • Report any phishing attempts or suspicious login activity.

    What is Generative Search?

Generative Search (Gen Search) is the backbone of AlphaSense's suite of generative AI capabilities that provides instant, hyper-relevant search summarizations for any query in AlphaSense.

Whether you know exactly what you're looking for and want to find it quickly, or you're looking to uncover insights and have them surfaced to you, Gen Search enables you to immediately conduct your research, and then identify and consume the most important information surrounding key topics or themes at the company, portfolio, or industry-level.

If anything sparks new questions, simply ask and it will answer, knowing each summarization and insight is directly cited to the exactly document it was generated from, whether it be an earnings call, expert transcript, broker report, or company presentation.

    Accessing Generative Search

Whenever running a search, any smart summary or insight is powered by Generative Search. While Gen Search is threaded throughout the AlphaSense platform, you'll be able to access and interact with it in a variety of avenues. Use whichever works best for you!

Chat directly with Gen Search when starting research

Wherever you might be in AlphaSense, you can quickly jump directly into Generative Search and ask questions.

Simply navigate to the sparkle icon in the left-hand navigation bar. From here, you can begin to ask questions of Gen Search and receive detailed, cited responses. Leverage any of the example searches below the search bar for inspiration or guidance.

Dive into Gen Search after you've run a search

Whenever you search using the Keyword Search bar (either standalone or in tandem with the Company & Ticker Search bar), Generative Search will summarize your results within the Search Summary on the right hand side.

Reading through the insights & summarizations, you can select any summary or the "Open in Gen Search" at the bottom of the summary to launch the chat experience and ask any follow up questions.

When to use Generative Search vs Document Search

Document Search refers to the traditional avenue you've built searches in AlphaSense, whereas Generative Search refers to AlphaSense's use of AI and chat interface to ask your questions with natural language.

While not a comprehensive guide, the above breakdown can quickly be used to understand if your query is best initiated as a generative search or as a traditional document search.

  • API Rate Limits

The API is designed to handle high volumes of requests while ensuring stability and performance for all users. To maintain fair usage, rate limits are enforced based on the Support Cloud Suite plan.

    Rate Limits by Plan

Plan Rate Limit per Minute Concurrent Requests
    Team 200 requests 5 concurrent
    Growth 400 requests 10 concurrent
    Professional 700 requests 15 concurrent
    Enterprise 1,000 requests 25 concurrent
Enterprise Plus 2,500 requests 50 concurrent

    Rate Limiting Behavior

    • Burst Handling: API requests exceeding the per-minute limit may receive a 429 Too Many Requests response.

    • Retry-After Header: When rate-limited, the Retry-After header in the response will indicate when to retry the request.

    • Concurrent Limits: The system enforces limits on simultaneous API calls to ensure consistent performance.

    High Volume API Add-On

Users on the Enterprise Plus plan can purchase the High Volume API add-on, increasing the rate limit to 5,000 requests per minute and 100 concurrent requests.

    Best Practices for API Usage

    • Efficient Querying: Optimize API calls to fetch only necessary data.

    • Batch Processing: Where possible, batch API requests to reduce the number of calls.

    • Caching Responses: Store frequently accessed data to minimize redundant API calls.

    • Rate Limit Handling: Implement exponential backoff and retry logic when encountering 429 errors.

For more information, see the API documentation.
